Finding Calm Amongst the Chaos

Some of my most cherished ways to wind down from any day, whether it’s a busy day in or a more restful day at home, I have made it a priority to implement rituals to calm this busy mind of mine.

I. Closing my laptop & switching my phone to do not disturb by 7pm. Whilst this isn’t always the case due to well, life - I have made a promise to take a step back from technology, especially during the evening. There is a stunning amount of literature that has shown blue light to negatively influence our circadian rhythm due to its ability to suppress the secretion of melatonin - a beautiful hormone that is crucial for us to have a restorative sleep.

II. Creating a sanctuary. This one is so so important to me. My dearest loved one’s know how much I adore lighting my favourite scent, turning on all the salt lamps and being a lil over the top when it comes to organising my room. It makes dry body brushing, reading a chapter my favourite book, or simply just drinking a herbal tea in bed feel so lush.

III. Journaling - this is a practice that has had the most profound impact on my emotional well-being. Connecting + releasing my thoughts on paper has become such a grounding way to channel my emotions after a chaotic day.
